On another amazing ski trip over Easter to the beautiful Alpine mountains of St Moritz, I went on a day trip to Diavolezza, just beyond Pontrasena. From the top of the gondola you are able to see into the nest valley which leads to the Italian border and the scenery form these extraordinary mountains is highlighted by the crisp blue sky above. I was lucky enough to ski down the Morteratsch Glacier, which is a 10km slope that brings you to the small railway station. On the way down there was a cave in the ice, which people could enter. I was overwhelmed by the beauty and depth of the ice. I love the change in colour, from clear white, to crystal blue, to deep black. Inside the cave I could feel the weight of the ice and the surface was as smooth as glass. This is an experience that will stay with me forever. |
