I have always found the landscape of the Alps ethereal and beautiful. As you move around the mountain, admiring the awesome scenery there is a sense of strength in the unmoving rocks, but also of imminent change. The weather conditions can change so fast and create wonderful light effects around the mountains and the colours are so subtle and emotive.
These photographs are from my holiday in the first week of January 2013, I was staying in the beautiful mountain village, Wengen in the Jungfrau region. This holiday really inspire my work this year. I find the transience of the elements (snow, ice, mountain) amazing.

Last Sunday a friend and I
went on an adventure outside Nottingham. We managed to get up early in the
morning and get the Sherwood Arrow to Sherwood Forrest (ironic, I know). Here
we hoped to see the Major Oak, a tree that is over 800 year old. I found the
concept of the tree fascinating; people have built structures to hold the
branches up since Edwardian times, which creates a man-made, geometric
structure around this wise old tree. The juxtaposition here is a lovely one,
especially in our world today, where we destroy thousands of acres of
rainforest, but want to preserve a signal tree.
This is my first post... I'm a little nervous about writing here so please bear with me. For the last week I've been working on developing pigments and dyes for my screen print. I think I have finally come to a good outcome, so here goes.
